Pleadings before the ICJ in the Certain Iranian Assets case (Iran v. United States)

Jean-Marc Thouvenin and Luke Vidal, partners of Sygna Partners in charge of the International Litigation and Arbitration Department, are advising and assisting Iran before the International Court of Justice in the case of Certain Iranian Assets against the United States.

Oral arguments on the merits of the case will take place from 19 to 23 September 2022, and will be joined by Jean-Marc Thouvenin and Luke Vidal, Iran's agent Dr. Tavakol Habibzadeh, as well as Professors Alain Pellet and Vaughan Lowe KC, Mr. Samuel Wordsworth KC, Mr. Sean Aughey and Dr. Hadi Azari, counsel and advocates. The International Litigation and Arbitration Department, headed by Lefa Mondon, will act as counsel to the team of counsel and the Iranian delegation.

In this case, Iran has brought a claim before the Court arguing that the freezing, seizure and confiscation by the US authorities of Iranian assets located in the United States, including the funds of the Iranian Central Bank, constitute violations of the Treaty of Amity and Commerce which bound the two countries until October 2019.
